Esta é a mais pequena das andorinhas em Portugal. Tem a plumagem castanha e branca, a cauda curta e uma banda castanha no peito. Mas o que mais diferencia esta andorinha das outras é a particularidade de escavar os seus ninhos em vez de os construir. Estas andorinhas podem ser observadas quase sempre em taludes ou barreiras de terra, geralmente nas várzeas e terras baixas do litoral ou junto a linhas de água.
This is the smallest of the swallows in Portugal. It has a brown and white plumage, a short tail and a brown stripe on the chest. But what most distinguishes these swallows from the others, is the particularity of digging their nests rather than build them. These swallows can be seen often on slops or earth barriers, usually in the lowlands and coastal lowlands or along watercourses.
