Pato elegante com pescoço e cauda comprida. os machos têm a cabeça cor de chocolate, peito branco e o corpo em geral cinzento.Em Portugal é um invernante pouco comum mais abundante no centro e sul, ocorrendo em zonas húmidas e zonas agrícolas.
Elegant duck with neck and long tail. Males have a chocolate-colored head, white chest and generally gray body. In Portugal is an uncommon wintering most abundant in center and south, occurring in wetlands and agricultural areas.
