

The Avocet is a wader of great dimensions with black and white plumage. It distinguishes from the distance mainly by its thin and black beak strongly curved upwards. Another curiosity of this bird is the way of feeding that "sweeps" continuously the mud, when feeding, with its curved beak. its diet consist in aquatic insects and other small creatures. This specie is present mainly from October to March and can be seen in coastal areas like estuaries and salt pans.
