This little wader brown and white has a characteristic that distinguishes it from the others waders that is the incessant movement of balancing of the tail. The belly is white without stripes being the dividing line quite marked. The feet are gray or greenish. It is a relatively common species in Portugal and are distributed all over the country. It frequents wetlands or freshwater, brackish or salt, being easy to find in estuarine areas and dams shallow waters.
