Este é o maior tordo presente em Portugal. De dorso acastanhado, peito e flancos brancos sarapintados, tem a cauda quase do tamanho da de um melro. Quando em voo, distinguem-se bem as manchas pálidas nas coberturas internas, que contrastam com o padrão do peito e abdomen. Não é uma espécie abundante em Portugal embora seja comum em algumas zonas sendo mais fácil de ser observado no inverno quando procura alimento em prados abertos.
This is the biggest thrushes present in Portugal. With brownish dorsum, spotted white chest and flanks, the tail is almost of the size of a blackbird. When in flight, we can well distinguish the pale spots in the internal hedges which contrast with the pattern of chest and abdomen. It is not an abundant species in Portugal although it is common in some areas, being easier to be observed in winter when search food in open meadows.
