De dimensões mais pequenas que o Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, possui ainda como características mais distintivas as patas amarelas, o anel ocular amarelo e a ausência de barra alar quando em voo. Tem a particularidade de simular uma asa partida tentando distrair os predadores do ninho. Esta limícola não frequenta zonas de água salgada, preferindo ribeiras e charcos de água doce, sendo por isso mais fácil encontrá-lo no interior do território português. Pode ser observado geralmente entre Março e Setembro.

Of smaller dimensions than the Ringed Plover, still has as most distinctive features, yellow legs, yellow eye ring and absence of the wing bar when in flight. It has the particularity of trying to simulate a broken wing to distract the predators from the nest. This wader does not frequent saltwater areas, preferring streams and ponds of fresh water, so it is easier to find it in the interior of the Portuguese territory. It can be seen usually between March and September.
