Esta ave chama a atenção pela brancura da plumagem das partes inferiores. A coloração é no entanto bastante variável, havendo indivíduos quase totalmente brancos e outros com cabeça escura e com asas sarapintadas. As partes superiores são castanhas e, quando a ave é vista de perto, pode-se ver o olho amarelo. Distribui-se de norte a sul de Portugal e ocorre geralmente em espaços arborizados alternados com espaços abertos, sendo mais frequente no interior que no litoral. É uma espécie estival, que chega ao nosso território geralmente em Março e parte em Setembro.
This bird draws attention by the whiteness plumage of the interior parts. The color is however quite variable, with individuals almost entirely white and others with dark head and with spotted wings. The upper parts are brown and, when the bird is seen up close, we can see the yellow eye. It is distributed from north to south of Portugal and occurs usually in wooded areas alternating with open spaces, being more frequently inside that on the coast. It is an summer species, which usually comes to our territory in March and leaves in September.
