

This gull is slightly smaller than the Yellow-legged Gull possessing darker feathers in the superior parts, and more rounded head. The adults have a typical gull plumage, dark-gray back, head and chest white, yellow legs and yellow beak with a red spot. The eyes are yellow and the orbital ring is red. Occurs throughout the year, being more abundant during the winter. It can be observed throughout the coastline, particularly in estuaries, beaches and fishing ports.
