Em Portugal está presente durante todo o ano. Frequenta sobretudo caniçais e zonas ribeirinhas com vegetação densa, sendo bastante comum no centro e sul do país. Tem uma plumagem discreta, de cor geralmente castanha avermelhada na parte superior que se funde com tons mais cremes na parte inferior. Os olhos são grandes e pretos realçados por um fino anel branco. A cauda é alongada e arredondada e as patas longas e robustas. É uma ave de difícil observação detectando-se mais fácilmente pelo seu canto.
In Portugal is present throughout the year. Frequents mostly reeds and riparian areas with dense vegetation and is quite comon in the center and south of the country.
