Rola relactivamente pequena e delgada, nidifica em florestas de árvores caducas, ricas em vegetação arbustiva, em áreas agrícolas com terras baixas e abertas bem como terrenos com arbustos densos e árvores isoladas. Em Portugal, é uma ave pouco comum na maior parte do território a sul do rio Tejo mas mais comum a norte. Pode ser observado entre Abril e Setembro.
Relatively small and thin dove, it nests in forests with lapsed trees rich in shrubs, in areas with open and agricultural lowlands as well as lands with dense shrubs and scattered trees. In Portugal, it is an uncommon bird in most of the territory to south of Tejo river but more common in the north. It can be observed between April and September.
