
It is a small wader with a plumage that varies between brown and gray tones, the beak is long and slightly curved and when in flight, the back are white with a central black streak. In nuptial plumage, the black belly contrasts sharply with the white of the interior parts. It is one of the most common species in the portuguese estuaries. The Dunlin occurs in our country mainly as a migratory bird and as winterer.
