The male of this species shows the head, chest and back black, contrasting with the white plumage of the flanks. Females, as is the case of the images, are brownish. The roasted yellow tone of the eyes helps the identification as well as a small crest pending on their head. It is an irregular visitor in our country, although they are ocasionally observed flocks of several dozen individuals. The Tufted Duck is especially winterer being able to be observed between October and March.
