Um pouco maior que o Perna-vermelha-comum,distingue-se deste por ter o bico mais fino, mais longo, e pela coloração totalmente preta da plumagem em período pré-nupcial. O bico e as patas são vermelhos. Em Portugal ocorre nos meses de Abril-Maio e Agosto-Outubro. Associado a zonas húmidas da metade sul do país, ocorrendo quase unicamente junto à costa, sendo muito raro no interior. Observado também a norte do país Blogue Verdes Ecos pelo nosso amigo Jorge Araújo da Silva.
Slightly larger than the Common Redshank distinguishes from it by having the thinnest and longest beak and the completely black plumage coloration in prenuptial period. The beak and the feet are red. In Portugal occurs from April-May and August-October. Associated with wetlands of the southern half of the country, ocurring almost exclusively along the coast, being very rare in the interior.
